Jacob

Here he is before the haircut.

And here he is after. He is very sweet boy and he thinks Chloe is a lot of fun. Chloe enjoyed being pushed around in this toy bucket, it has wheels on the bottom and Jacob couldn't wait to take Chloe for a spin.

Good stuff

This blog is mostly about the kiddos because I don't keep a journal very well, or a scrapbook, or even a photo album really. But I am currently enjoying some new songs lately and I feel it a duty to spread the word about these guys. I came across their music a while ago and shared it with Louis. He liked it, yeah (sometimes our tastes differ). We saw them play at a little whole-in-the-wall place back in 2006, and it was awesome. I hope to one day see them live again.

Thinking about Matthew

He is a delightful kid. If I want to be real, I will admit that since kindergarten has started his personality is shifting. He can be ornery and downright rude sometimes. On a good note, he usually realizes it and apologizes. He is a pretty cool kid. He is growing up and man, it really makes me sad. I am trying to take it all in stride and realize that yes, children must grow up. It is a natural progression, but I miss this innocence when it is gone. Anyway...

February 2008

The poor kid has had to have allergy testing, which is not pleasant. In fact, I should probably undergo the same procedures, but I'm not quite as brave as my six-year old.
He had about 30 plastic toothpick-type tools scratch his back, when that showed no allergies the doc decided to move to his arms, with 15 needles to test for a reaction. Good news- no allergies. Bad news- do I really have to tell you? He was very brave and so he was offered a trip to
Cold Stone Creamery (follow that link). Nothing like cheesecake ice cream and marshmallows to erase the pain... Now we just have to figure out why he has had a cough since September.

Chloe

She is now an official 'crawler' and has gotten very good at it. Naturally, she has already found the cat dish and has played in it a couple of times; fortunately, she has never tasted the cat food.

The other night I attempted to let her cry it out at bedtime. Well, it was unsuccessful. I picked her up and rubbed her sweet little head, only to realize that she had thrown-up and it had managed to land on the side and back of her head-nowhere else. The picture above is her in the mirror after the incident. She was so very sad. And this picture below is her head before the clean-up. Poor girl. Although she still doesn't sleep through the night, she has lengthened her second nap of the day from 30 minutes to two hours (at least for the last 5 days). Hallelujah!

I wasn't able to capture her the way I could with Matthew since I was trying to hold her up and snap the picture. Oh well. She's pretty cute anyway.

This week...

has been long. Jacob and Matthew had a stomach virus and Chloe has been congested (and at times, completely miserable- see photo). While we did have the joy of Matthew's birthday, he was sick...too sick to finish his slice of birthday cake. Poor guy. He had to spend a few days at home, but he tried to make the most of it.

And while Chloe has been sick, she has learned to crawl on 'all fours' this week. The excitement. The nervousness. I have never had crawling children in a house with stairs, so I'm a little nervous about her safety. It sure is fun to see her smile as she gets around though. She also has started to 'dance' when she hears music. And...I think we finally have some teeth about to appear. These milestones are so bittersweet. It is so exciting to watch them grow and learn, but sometimes it breaks my heart to have this time go by. I adore babies, their innocence and unconditional love. She will be nine-months old tomorrow, half-way to nursery age. Right now that seems to be the last place I want my babe to be (give me a few months of chasing her around and I'm sure I'll start the nursery countdown).

Picture of the week

Friday!

1. Once I was a vegetarian (it didn't last long, I love hamburgers).
2. I'm tired of everyone being sick.
3. Today at work I got to hang out with a friend (it was a very nice time) and I got to clean up after a sick, teething baby.
4. What's our country's obsession with celebrities all about?
5. If I make a mistake I admit it and apologize profusely.
6. When I woke up this morning, I thought I can't accomplish what I need to today (but I did).
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleeping, tomorrow my plans include sleeping and Sunday, I want to sleep!
